JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking to recruit anenthusiastic, innovative, and creative qualified Clinical Psychologist with interestand expertise in autism to join our small friendly team as we continue our commissionedinitiative to improve the neurodevelopmental and mental health serviceexperience for autistic children and young people within Sutton. You will bepart of the team helping to revolutionise the service journey and care forautistic young people.

Applicantswill need to demonstrate good knowledge and strong understanding ofpsychological frame works and practice. They will need to have a First ClassHonours Degree or 2:1 Honours Degree in Psychology.

There must be an understanding of child development, autism, ADHD,other concerns linked to autism, trauma, attachment, anxiety and depression.Applicants must have experience of working with autistic young people betweenthe ages of 8-18. Applicants will alsoneed to have experience of applying psychology theory in community settingswith strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Main duties of the job

As further enhancementand extension of the neurodevelopmental pathway provision, we would like togive the opportunity to a full time Clinical Psychologist (Band 7equivalent) to work on our new post diagnostic initiative The Autism Plan (TheA Plan). The job role will include:

Support in providing diagnostic assessmentfor Autism Post diagnostic mental healthinterventions when needed as identified by The A Plan. Oversee the A Plan post diagnosticpathway Psychological consultation to colleagueswithin our company Cognus and external agencies Support/supervision to junior team membersof the team Contribution to research initiatives Teaching opportunities

Clinical Psychology Cognus is commissioned by the NHS SouthwestLondon Clinical Commissioning Group to provide services for the borough ofSutton. Our work includes conducting neurodevelopmentalassessments, post diagnostic neurodevelopmental and mental health supportinterventions, group work, liaising with local CAHMS, schools and otheragencies.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

KEY TASKS

To provide high quality evidence based clinical psychology service forautistic children and adolescents. Touphold the discipline and practices of clinical psychology.

Clinical

Conductingdiagnostic assessments for using standardised assessment tools for possible Autismand related neurodevelopmental and behavioural and/or mental health concernsfor children and young adolescents. Tocommunicate in a highly skilled and sensitive manner, information concerningthe assessment, formulation, and recommendations for people with complexpresentations of Autism Conductingmental health and autism specific intervention/support sessions ConductingADOS or play based assessments when necessary to identify difficultiesexperienced by young people as part of the diagnostic process. Work incollaboration with the wider network, including parents, school, and socialcare when necessary Liaiseor work directly with all the specialists and professionals concerned on specific cases when required.

Supervision

Toparticipate in regular clinical supervision with Principal Clinical Psychologistand supervise Assistant Psychologist

Research

Tocontribute to research project when applicable

General

Organiseown workload under the direct support and supervision of Service Lead Ensureall duties are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety regulationsas given in the Health & Safety Manual Tocarry out, as and when required, any additional tasks and responsibilities asare reasonable compatible with this job description and its objectives.
