About the role

Benefact Group, are looking for a Group Accountant to join us on a 12 month FTC to deliver accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting for the group and its businesses. This position will be based at our Gloucester office and is available on a hybrid basis.

Key responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of the Group’s statutory and regulatory reporting through sourcing, analysing and preparing financial information for use in returns and financial statements.
  • Contribute to the preparation of external IFRS financial statements for the Group’s UK entities.
  • Support the delivery of regulatory (Solvency II) returns for annual and quarterly submissions for Group and UK regulated entities.
  • Provide support to the external auditor for efficient and surprise free statutory and solvency assurance engagements.
  • Support a continuous improvement culture within the Group Reporting team and across wider Group finance function.
  • Assist with the preparation of narrative reporting for statutory and regulatory reporting, including the Strategic Report, SFCR and RSR.
  • Contribute to areas of accounting judgements and support the Group Reporting team with the statutory and regulatory reporting Group Governance requirements.
  • Support the implementation and improvements to the Group’s accounting controls and procedures for statutory and regulatory reporting.
  • Proactive engagement with wider Group Finance objectives and projects.
  • Actively expand personal technical knowledge both informally (networking internally and externally, internet, industry press) and formally (In-house training, CPD)
Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Qualified/Part Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Understanding of IFRS. Solvency II experience beneficial, but not essential.
  • Experience with the production of statutory accounts and knowledge of consolidations.
  • A skilled communicator capable of interpreting and explaining complex information to stakeholders.
  • Experienced and disciplined user of Microsoft Excel.
  • Aptitude for learning, interpreting and applying accounting and regulatory requirements and best practice.
  • Knowledge of the Financial Services industry would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines, handle competing priorities and adapt to the needs of the business.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Well organised with a meticulous attention to detail.
