NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. The shift pattern is Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the West Dumbarton Mental Health Occupational Therapy service. The post is based within the clinical area of Older Peoples’ Community Mental Health and covers both Cairnmhor Resource Centre in Dumbarton and Goldenhill Resource Centre in Clydebank.

We are looking for a motivated occupational therapist to join our well-established team. Service provision is to patients (aged over 65) with both functional and organic mental illness. Although well-established we are also excited to be involved in a number of initiatives aimed at shaping and improving the service.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

Relevant placement/Work experience in the specialist area of mental health or with older adults. Competent assessment, treatment and discharge planning skills.  Delivery of occupational therapy treatment on an individual and/or group basis as required.  Considerable skills in communication, effective organisational and time management skills Ability to help provide delivery of a high standard of service. 

Regular supervision and support will be provided as will the opportunity to self-develop through the use of an annual development review and a Personal Development Plan.

The postholder will be responsible for the day to day management of junior staff as part of supervision systems, including clinical workload and supervision of under and post graduate pre registration students as required. The postholder will also be involved in the education of other staff and agencies.
