Job summary
You will work closely with our experienced and friendly purpose of the role is toprovide general clerical, administrative and reception duties to the AcuteMedical Unit.
The successful applicant will be expected to work both aspart of a team and to use their own initiative and work unsupervised to ensurethe effective co-ordination of duties.
Previous clerical experience and knowledge ofthe healthcare environment would be an advantage.
Main duties of the job

You will be working with our new EPR (Electronic PatientRecord) system and will be involved in the admitting, transfering anddischarging patients.
You will be involved in ensuring dischargeletters are complete and relevant appointments made.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities
General clerical, administrative and reception duties,working both as part of a team and to use their own initiative and workunsupervised to ensure the effective co-ordination of duties.
To ensure that all relevant visits to the hospital arecorrectly inputted onto the system and further follow up investigations arerequested.
Will work closely with the coordinator in charge of theshift.
To be competent in e-mails, scanning, photocopying,incoming/outgoing telephone calls, visit to the post room and other departmentsto transfer referrals.
To complete other admin duties as per thecoordinator.

Special Requirements
Essential
Able to work flexibly including weekends bank holidays and evenings.
Experience
Essential
Relevant administrative experience.
Desirable
Previous administrative experience in a hospital.
Statutory Registration
Desirable
NVQ 2 Care Certificate.
Qualifications
Essential
Able to demonstrate reasonable secondary education.
Special Skills & Knowledge
Essential
Good IT skills.
Desirable
Previous experience using Word and Excel.-
