Medwyn is partof Dorking Primary Care Network. This consists of 4 Dorking practices that havea proven track record of successfully working together collaboratively andeffectively for the benefit of patients and the wider community.

Medwyn Surgeryserves around 13,500 patients and this is rising steadily, partly due topopulation growth in the area and partly due to the impressive and obviouspresence of its excellent facilities.

The practice iswell established in terms of computerisation. The Partners consider themselvesto be innovative. The clinical and appointment system used is SystmOne.

Job responsibilities

JOB TITLE: Health Care Assistant

JOB LOCATION: Medwyn Surgery, Medwyn Centre, Centre, ReigateRoad, Dorking, RH4 1SD

RESPONSIBLE TO: GP Partners

MAIN PURPOSE OF POST

To assist the nursingstaff and doctors in the care of the practice population.

To work with the Primary Health CareTeam to ensure a seamless delivery of care to the Practice population and topromote a positive image of the Practice to its patients and service users.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Clinical

-To carry out a range of treatment room duties using agreed protocols and under the direct supervision of a clinical member of staff. NHS Health checks, ECGs, 24hr BPs, urinalysis, INRs, phlebotomy, injections, weight, height and BP check.

- To assist with specialist clinics as appropriate.

- To maintain stocks and supplies within the Practice.

- To identify areas of possible improvement in service delivery to the practice manager.

- To maintain effective communication with the Primary Health Care Team and external agencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Administrative

-To ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient healthcare and registration with the practice.

- To participate in the development of protocols and guidelines and assist in the formulation of Practice philosophy and policy.

- To contribute to the development of the Practice by participating in Practice meetings as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES -Professional

-To acknowledge clinical limitations and not undertake any procedures for which they have not be adequately trained.

- To maintain confidentiality.

- To maintain personal development by attending courses/study days as identified by the Partners.

- Participate in the education and training of students.

To undertake any other duties which are commensuratewith the level and responsibilities of this post.

To activelyand continuously review all activities and suggest areas for improvement.

Experience

- Experience of working within the NHS or Primary Care
