About the role

The post holder will develop a programme of research on sexual health with a focus on sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, in women. They will be encouraged to develop collaborations with other research groups in IGH, elsewhere in UCL (including laboratory science groups), and externally. They will contribute to the management of the portfolio of observational and interventional research undertaken at the Centre. They will be encouraged to seek opportunities for international collaboration, including with AHRI in South Africa, on clinical research projects.

The post holder will contribute to the clinical care of patients in the sexual health and HIV service at CNWL. The majority of the clinical work will be in the integrated sexual health (ISH) service and it is expected that the post holder will support a specialist service within the ISH service related to their research interests. The post holder will have some clinical responsibility for outpatient HIV care. The expert clinical advice provided to services in CNWL will include advice on developing services to better meet the needs of the clinic population.

The post holder will contribute to training of junior doctors, including academic trainees who are attached to the service. The post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of the broader educational portfolio of the Institute for Global Health, and to the supervision of postgraduate taught and research students.

This is a fixed-term, three-year appointment.

Salary range: £93, - £, pro-rata per annum, depending on experience.

An acceptable enhanced DBS check is required to carry out this role.

About you

The post holder should have a higher academic degree MD or PhD (or in final stages of preparation), or evidence of an equivalent level of attainment in research publications. They should be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or equivalent, in an appropriate speciality. They should also have Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and completed General Professional Training, or equivalent.

The post holder should have experience of clinical practice in HIV and sexual health, proven ability to attract grant funding to support research and experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Proven experience in the design and conduct of research studies and a record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals are essential requirements for the post.
