Tax Associate / Assistant – Employer Solutions Tax (Advisory)

South Region / Central Region / National

A look into the role

As an Associate / Assistant within our Employer Solutions team, you will:

Advise a wide range of clients on employer solutions matters, focusing on UK domestic and global mobility employment taxes. Support our Managers and Associate Directors to manage a large and varied client portfolio - helping clients save costs, introduce efficiencies and mitigate risk Be involved in a variety of projects around (but not limited to) the following areas: tax risk management, pay and governance, due diligence support for business transactions, advising on the treatment of global benefits and expenses, off-payroll working including cross border remote working and employment status matters, supporting clients who are within the Construction Industry Scheme, tax policy formulation and review, self-assessment tax return preparation and assignee briefings, short term business visitors, non-resident directors and international social security Liaise with HMRC and other third parties to support our clients Support the development of more junior team members Support to build the Grant Thornton brand through the quality we deliver to our clients.

You will be an active and integral member of the wider client team responsible for ensuring work is delivered on time. While the focus at certain periods in the year is upon compliance for both the employer and employee, you will work alongside the rest of the client service team delivering advisory projects and ad-hoc tasks to meet the needs of the business and service the client portfolio. It is expected that you will also build direct client relationships in relation to the services delivered.

Joining us as an Employer Solutions Tax Associate (or Assistant), It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.

Progress towards a professional qualification (ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent) Experience in Employer Solutions, Employment Tax and / or Global Mobility Advising on a range of domestic employment tax and/or global mobility topics Current knowledge of UK tax legislation and common global mobility themes Strong communication and interpersonal skills working directly with client and wider team Analytical with a good attention to detail Excellent organisational skills and be motivated and eager to learn
