About the role

Cyber Operations purpose is to support safe care and build public trust by building NHS England’s cyber resilience and enabling the wider health system to be cyber resilient, supporting Transformation Directorate’s purpose of delivering the best care and outcomes for the NHS.

The Cyber Operations sub-directorate consists of 4 operational areas:

Cyber Security Operations Unit (CSOU). Cyber Delivery Unit (CDU). Cyber Improvement. Chief Information Security Office Function (CISO).

The CSOC, part of the CSOU, function provides centralised monitoring and response across NHS England, and the system. The CSOC consists of Threat Operations (ThreatOps), Protective Monitoring, Incident Management & response, Service Operations (ServiceOps) and Engineering.

To support our strategy to improve NHS England’s cyber resilience, we are recruiting for a Cyber Security Senior Analyst specialising in Threat Intelligence to work within the Cyber Security Threat Operations team. This is one of the core pods of NHS England's National CSOU. The Threat Intelligence and Assessments team comprised of four primary functions: 

Intelligence Collection & Analysis – Perform collection, aggregation, analysis and contextualisation of healthcare and security information to produce actionable cyber threat intelligence. Cybersecurity Threat & Risk Assessment – Perform high-level risk assessments of current and emerging threats to the health & social care estate. Intelligence Dissemination & Reporting – Produce stakeholder-specific intelligence reporting for internal and external stakeholders. Specialist CTI Support - Provides specialist Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) support to CSOU during high complexity incidents. The Role  As a Cyber Security Senior Analyst Threat Intelligence, you will act in a supervisory capacity to a team of threat intelligence analysts, reporting and raising issues to senior leadership. You will perform a subset of the specialist responsibilities including: Act as a subject matter expert in tactical, operational, and strategic components of threat intelligence and deliver products for senior stakeholders. Lead-in-depth Cyber Threat Intelligence Investigations; making Cyber Threat Intelligence decisions within Incident Response scenarios. Deliver technical capability development in support of Threat Operations requirements and identification and development of automation use cases within Threat Intelligence. Interrogate threat intelligence and internal security tooling to identify items of interest and potential cyber threats. Research and assessment of Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) of cyber threat groups.

Important : Please be aware there are residency requirements you need to meet:

All NHS Digital/England Cyber Security personnel must hold security clearance SC level as a minimum. To meet National Security Vetting requirements,  you must have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 out of the past 5 years for SC clearance.  Candidates who were posted abroad for service with HM Government, Armed Forces or within a UK government role - will still be considered. About you

Some of the skills and experience we're looking for: 

Threat intelligence  – Demonstrate the knowledge of collection, analyses and reporting of information from various sources to identify potential cyber threats, risks and vulnerabilities. 

Digital Threat Management -  Extensive knowledge of techniques, approaches and processes of digital threats; ability to detect, monitor, analyse and prevent digital threats.

Digital Forensic Tools -  Demonstrable knowledge of and ability to utilize a variety of specific tools for collecting, analysing, and presenting digital-related evidence.

Information Security Architecture -  Demonstrable knowledge of the tools and techniques used for creating software, hardware, networking and application infrastructure; ability to meet information security objectives while using these. 

Creativity -  Demonstrable knowledge of the approaches, tools, and techniques for promoting creative, original thinking and ability to apply it to a variety of business situations. 

Cybersecurity Risk Management -  Proven knowledge of tools, techniques, approaches and processes of cybersecurity risk management; ability to ensure organizational network operation and minimize negative effect by cybersecurity risks.

Computer Forensics -  Working knowledge of technologies, methods and tools of forensics investigations for IT security violations or potential threats; ability to identify, uncover and evaluate violations, warning reports, suspected incidents and insidious events.
