The Staff Royal Photographer position calls for an experienced, creative, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and disciplined professional to capture and edit imagery from UK Royal engagements. You must have a deep knowledge of the Royal ROTA system, as well as advanced skills and expertise in different shooting styles, equipment, and image transmission technology. You will need to be an effective communicator and have the ability to work as part of a team. A Shutterstock photographer must assume responsibility for issues as they arise, prioritize a heavy workload, and meet strict deadlines while using expert judgment to capture editorial images for our global market and clients.

Responsibilities:

Photograph Royal engagements, news, and entertainment events, maintaining an awareness of global personalities and trends. 

Use insightful judgment to photograph, edit, and transmit the most impactful photographs, and sometimes video, on tight deadlines, ensuring that relevant aspects of a story are covered. 

Collaborate with picture editors to provide editing guidance and actionable feedback.

Write copy, captions and general metadata required for accurate descriptions of the content.

Maintain assigned photo and computer equipment to ensure proper maintenance and functionality

Follow photography industry and equipment news, working with the Director of Entertainment Assignments to upgrade equipment as needed.

Be available and prepared to travel for single and multi-day event assignments, even at the last minute.

Build and sustain partnerships with public relations teams, event organizers, and assignment editors.

Serve as an ambassador of Shutterstock at all events, building relationships that support the company’s goals.

Maintain full understanding of the global client base, expected deadlines and image preferences.

Willingness to occasionally cover non-Royal Entertainment, News and/or Sport events 


Requirements:

Hands-On: You should love rolling up your sleeves and working alongside the team. 

Significant experience of professional royal, news, or entertainment photography.

Significant experience shooting, editing, capturing and uploading images from live events.

Expertise working with industry standard image editing tools and processes.

Experience of camera network connectivity, photo editing software and file sharing systems.

Proficient at creating and editing captions, keywords and media classifications.

Existing productive relationships with public relations teams and event organizers.

Excellent communicator, decisive, deadline-driven, people-oriented person.

Experience collaborating with editors and technicians in high-activity fast-paced environments.

Exceptional at achieving time-sensitive production goals while managing multiple (and competing) priorities and imminent deadlines.

Available to work non-traditional schedules including evenings and weekend work, as well as the ability to cover events on-call (on a moment’s notice).

Full understanding of and compliance with photo industry editorial standards and ethical codes
