Teaching Personnel are working with an outstanding all-boys SEMH school that is looking for dedicated Behaviour Mentors to support both primary and secondary pupils. This is a highly rewarding role where you can make a real difference in the lives of students facing significant challenges.

About the Role:

  • Location: Horsham, West Sussex
  • Position: Full-time Behaviour Mentor (Primary & Secondary)
  • Salary: £25,000 per annum, paid 52 weeks per year
  • Start Date: Immediate start available

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored behavioural support to boys with SEMH needs in both primary and secondary settings
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a positive and proactive way, maintaining a calm and controlled learning environment
  • Work closely with teaching staff to develop individual behaviour plans, ensuring consistency and continuity in approach
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils to help them develop better coping strategies and improve their emotional resilience
  • Encourage and support the academic, social, and emotional development of students
  • Offer mentorship and guidance to help students develop positive behaviours and life skills

What We’re Looking For:

  • Resilience & Patience: A calm, strong-minded individual who can manage challenging situations with compassion and persistence
  • Experience with SEMH or Behavioural Needs: Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour is beneficial but not essential
  • Strong Communication Skills: The ability to build strong, supportive relationships with students, staff, and parents, and work collaboratively with the wider school team
  • Commitment & Continuity: Candidates must be consistent, reliable, and able to provide stability for students who need it most
  • Passion for Helping Young People: A genuine interest in making a positive impact in the lives of students who face emotional and behavioural difficulties

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
