Job overview

We have supported a number of our Trust Grades to successfully secure places on the formal training programme and into career grade positions.

Whilst the posts available do not form part of the formal training programme, we endeavour to offer post holders the same training and educational opportunities as colleagues in training, including paid study leave. You will be provided with clinical and educational supervision, to enable your personal and portfolio development. There is an active Postgraduate Medical Education Centre on both sites, as part of a dynamic Education and Training directorate, which is developing multi-professional training.

Main duties of the job

The principle duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients from and around your base hospital.

1.To, at all times, comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a Doctor

2.To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.

3.To undertake duties as defined within the job description in so far as practicable and in agreement with your clinical director.

4.To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of any Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.

5.On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust’s Corporate Induction.

6.To participate in the Trust’s statutory and mandatory training programme

7.To be responsible for the clinical management of in and out patients under your care.

8.To comply with Trust policies and procedures where appropriate.

9.To ensure that all intellectual property rights of the Trust are observed.

10.Detailed working knowledge of safeguarding agenda, and its relevant legislation, policy and guidance is required.

Qualifications and experience

Has achieved MBChB or equivalent Satisfactory completion of Foundation Year 1 Programme Evidence of interest in paediatrics ALS Training - European

Desirable criteria

Distinctions, Scholarships, Prizes Experience of research Clinical employment within the NHS Additional degrees e.g. MSc, MBA, PHD

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria

Competence in basic clinical procedures Able to prioritise clinical need, time and workload Understands the principles of patient confidentiality and data protection Understand the importance of working effectively in teams Ability to assess, recognise and initiate management of the acutely ill patient and play an effective part in advanced life support Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk Able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
