Buckingham, United Kingdom The Royal Household Full time
About the role

It’s supporting the people who drive the Household forward. It's being encouraged to gain new skills and it's the opportunity to join the professional business behind the Monarchy. This is what makes a career with the Royal Household so special.

As you would expect from an accredited Investor in People, our HR team provide professional, best-in-class and forward-thinking support to this unique and diverse organisation. And by joining us, you’ll make a brilliant start to your HR career.

No two days will be the same. Working as part of our People Services Team with a broad generalist workload, you'll deliver HR activities across the employee life-cycle, such as:

  • Managing the on-boarding of new employees, ensuring they are fully referenced, preparing employment contracts and conducting right to work checks.
  • Processing joiners, leavers, pay amendments, maternity/paternity requests, and occupational health referrals.
  • Providing advice to employees and managers on employment practice and policy.
  • Supporting our People Partners with more complex activities such as employee relations, absence and performance management.

Digitally enabled HR is at the very forefront of our approach. You'll help to troubleshoot queries and refine processes, as well as working with HR colleagues to support projects and initiatives.

The learning curve will be steep, but you’ll be supported every step of the way. And although your starting point will be to provide seamless transactional support, as you gain experience and develop your skills, you'll be trusted to take on much more.

After a period of initial training, you’ll be supported to complete a professional HR qualification. We don't stand still here; and you'll be encouraged to make an impact at the heart of this world-famous institution.

About you

Essential Criteria

  • With previous administration experience, you'll be keen to take the first step in your HR career.

  • Digitally fluent and with exceptional attention to detail, you'll be able to work with different systems, use MS Office and communicate through online technologies.

  • A natural communicator, you're at your best working in a team and you’ll be confident working with a range of people at different levels.

  • Organised and pro-active, with lots of initiative and an ability to work at pace, you'll juggle a varied workload, effectively balancing priorities and deadlines whilst understanding the importance of delivering service excellence.

  • And with great written skills, you'll be comfortable drafting emails, correspondence, employment documents and basic reports with care.

The role is based at Buckingham Palace but with some flexibility for some remote working.
