Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is recruiting a Paediatric Senior Research Nurse.

We would like an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative nurse to join our team. Research experience is desirable but equivalent clinical experience will be accepted. The post holder will be trained and supported to lead a portfolio of research studies within the Children’s Clinical Research Facility based within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, and provide senior cover, as required, within the paediatric team in Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (GCRF).

GCRF supports research in a broad range of clinical specialities, including neurology, endocrine, dermatology and general paediatrics, providing a service to local Investigators, of any discipline, to conduct their clinical research safely, efficiently, and effectively.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

The Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (CRF) has a worldwide reputation for research. In order to support the expansion of the research portfolio across the facility we continue to develop, working with a variety of specialities to conduct high profile clinical research, it incorporates Clinical Research Facilities at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the Paediatric Clinical Research Facility. Jointly they provide a streamlined service to investigators to conduct their clinical research efficiently and safely. The Paediatric portfolio is exciting and diverse, covering the breadth of research activities from registry studies to phase 1 medicinal trials.

The post holder will provide regular written and verbal reports on paediatric CRF activity and development to line manager. Where appropriate, the post-holder may also be the lead nurse on an agreed number of studies, commensurate with their own prior level of paediatric and research experience. The post holder will manage resources to support clinical research activity to meet objectives agreed by Glasgow CRF and Research & Innovation (R&I) senior management team. They will liaise with the Scottish Children’s Research Network (Scot CRN), UK wide paediatric CRFs and other UK paediatric research organisations contributing to the development of collaborative working practices.

Minimal requirements:

· Registered Nurse (children, or relevant experience), with relevant post-registration paediatric experience in the acute care setting.
· First level degree with evidence of continuing personal development.
· Evidence of well-developed clinical and technical skills.
· Ability to prioritise own and staff workload to achieve agreed timelines, quality standards and targets.
· Ability to use Microsoft Office, research web-based systems and databases proficiently and effectively in the workplace.

Desirable:

· Personal development in research or relevant area, including current working knowledge of GCP, regulatory legislation and research frameworks.
· Experience in managing clinical research projects including both academic and commercial CTIMPs and non-CTIMP studies
