Waste Connections of Canada is looking for a SAFETY inclined, energetic, autonomous, and proactive Operations Supervisor.

As an Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising a team of drivers, heavy equipment operators and scale attendants daily. You will ensure that operations are running safely, by performing coaching your team, completing job observations, and providing safety training to your team. 

In this role, your team would consist of:

4 Heavy Equipment Operators 1 Scale Attendant Up to 10 AZ Licensed Drivers

Main Accountabilities:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of your team. Review route sheets daily with dispatch to identify areas of improvement. Review volume reports daily with scale attendant to ensure compliance with the Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) for the Waste Transfer and Material Recovery Facility. Review Vehicle Condition Reports (VCRs) along with completing pre and post trip observations by Drivers and Heavy Equipment Operators to ensure compliance with daily safety and maintenance checks. Provide coaching and guidance to team members as required. Ensure that team members payroll data is accurate and processed daily. Plans, monitors, and schedules team members accordingly to fit the operational needs daily. Performance Management of employees through the progressive discipline process. Conducts incident investigations including scene management, first incident report and final analysis with root cause and preventative measures. Maintains Environmental Health and Safety programs including training, meetings and required reporting of relevant EH&S issues. Maintaining adherence to company safety policies and MTO regulations. Maintaining adherence to company operational policies and MECP regulations for the Waste Transfer and Material Recovery Facility.

Requirements:

Must put Safety first in all decisions. Must possess a valid AZ driver's license. Must be willing to work Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday and Statutory Holiday work. Must possess basic computer skills and knowledge.

Preferences:

Proven experience operating Yellow Iron equipment such as Bucket Loaders and Excavators. Prior experience in a supervisory role. Experience and comfort using Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and Outlook.

Job Specifics:

Schedule:Approximately 10 Hours per day, 50 hours per week.Monday to Friday.Start/Finish times to be discussed with successful candidate.Occasional Saturday and Statutory Holiday work required. Compensation:Annual Salary of $78,000 paid bi-weekly.Annual Bonus of up to 10% for achieving annual targets and metrics. Benefits:3 weeks’ vacation.Within 90 to 120 days of starting:Medical, Vision and Dental benefits.Matching RRSP contributions up to 5%.Short-term and Long-term disability coverage along with life insurance. Other:Company provided pickup truck to be used while at work (successful candidate must have transportation to and from work).Company provided laptop and cell phone.
