Main duties of the job

As anassistant psychologist, you can expect to work in a variety of roles withinTIC+ with a strong focus on co-production, engagement and evaluation.

TIC+ is a charity established in1993 serving Gloucestershire and surrounding areas. TIC+ reaches hundreds ofchildren and young people every year as well as offering support & adviceto parents & professionals. We work to ensure that every young person haseasy, prompt, independent access to appropriate support according to theirneeds.

TIC+ has a home office in Mitcheldean Gloucestershire; counsellingrooms and home-based staff and volunteers working across the county. We striveto ensure young people, parents and families feel accepted, safe & valued,so that they can say whats on their mind, and be really listened to withoutthe fear of being judged. We work with young people to help them buildresilience & give them strategies to cope with situations they might befacing.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Clinical (approximately 3 days per week)

To provide psychologically informed supportthrough the TIC+ Chat anonymous text/phone drop-in service, including oneevening until 9pm.

Following the FREED model of intervention foreating difficulties, to provide an initial engagement call with all youngpeople accessing the newly launched TIC+ Eating Difficulties Service (TEDS), allocatethe young person to a suitable counsellor (including booking a suitable room)and provide ongoing support.

You may also have a role in completingassessment calls for TEDS clients and in occasionally attending the NHS EatingDisorder triage meetings to represent the TEDS team, with support from the TEDSLead Counsellor.

As partto our Coordination andSafeguarding team, to review and assess risk of online referrals, takeappropriate safeguarding action and allocate young people to a suitablecounsellor.

Prepare for (reading andbecoming familiar with Nav Hub referrals for the meeting) and attend theNavigation Hub meeting to contribute to the multi-agency discussion anddecision making.

To assist in the coordination and delivery ofpsycho-educational groups and workshops, face-to-face and/or virtually andincluding evening work. Thiswill involve being available to attend online training on the 1 st and 3 rd of July, 2024.

To receive regular clinical supervision from aqualified clinical psychologist.

TIC+ are leading providers of training and youwill be expected to engage in regular internal and external CPD, in consultationwith your team manager and supervisor.

ClinicalResource Development (approximately days per week)

To beresponsible for the shared resource hub, and ensure all materials added arecredible and psychologically informed.

To help in theproduction of teaching material for counselling training, in collaboration withthe TIC+ counselling tutors.

Participationand Outreach (approximately days per week)

At TIC+, co-production is key to our approachand you will be involved in running the Young Peoples Voices Group, and theParent and Carers Voices Group. This will include recruiting to the group,preparing resources for consultation and facilitating the discussion.

Engagement with service users, parents andprofessionals to include the promotion of TIC+ services through outreach eventsincluding school assemblies, mental health awareness events and writtenmaterials.

You may be required to attend networkingevents, where you will be expected to represent TIC+ and provide a detailedoverview of the charitys services, while building relationships with otherlocal organisations.

There may also be opportunities to delivertraining sessions to external organisations.

Researchand Evaluation (approximately 1 day per week)

To have a critical appreciation of therelevant research literature and to produce systematically informed literaturereviews when requested.

To lead on a service evaluation project, incollaboration with the Clinical Advisor and Research Lead, with the aspirationto publish the findings in a peer reviewed academic journal and increase thenational profile of TIC+.

You may also be required to develop surveys,interview schedules and written materials to facilitate staff feedback andpromote internal engagement with new services and initiatives.

Alongside the TIC+ data analyst team, to beinvolved in the collection and analysis of data related to the above and annual staff survey data, experience of survey data.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

A degree in Psychology, accredited by the British Psychology Society

Desirable

Further postgraduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.

Skills

Essential

High standards of written and verbal communication, including report writing and presentation skills to potentially large groups of professionals IT skills and good working knowledge of statistical packages SPSS, Excel and Power Point

Desirable

Application of psychological knowledge to a mental health context Research skills, including knowledge of how to conduct literature searches and research methodology

Experience

Experience of working with people with psychological needs Experience of working as part of a team Experience of engaging others

Experience of working in a health or social care setting Experience of working within a research context, either as part of an undergraduate project or as a research assistant Experience of working with children and young people within an organisational context
