We are looking for a qualified therapist with a passion to make a difference to children and young people. You will be fully supported to develop your skills in a range of pathways including complex long term conditions and our new Neuro Developmental Disabilities Pathway. This pathway focuses on functional outcomes for school aged children to develop independence in occupational performance skills in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure.

Main duties of the job

You must be able to effectively manage your own time, demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to use a car for work purposes. We offer a full induction and training and you will have a clinical supervisor who will support you to progress through a competency development plan.

We have one full time occupational therapy vacancy within the West Lancashire Team. The team is base at the Child Development Centre at Ormskirk hospital and comprises of occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists. The Service is led by a multidisciplinary management team, including a Professional Lead for Occupational Therapy. We work closely with colleagues in health, education and social care to provide a holistic child-centred service. We work in a variety of locations, including clinics, children's own homes, nurseries and schools.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

Professional Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy Current Professional Registration with HCPC Evidence of continued professional development

Knowledge

Essential

Understanding of clinical governance framework & implications for practice, including audit and research governance Knowledge of a range of therapy techniques and programmes Knowledge of research, evidence-based practice and current issues relating to client group

Experience

Essential

Multi-disciplinary/multi-agency collaborative working Safeguarding of children/adults and implementation of policy and procedures with evidence of training/updates Involvement in service improvement projects

Skills

Essential

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal, including managing challenging situations Able to work independently Problem solving/ Decision making in relation to clinical practice, HCPC standards and implications for practice
