Job summary

We are looking for clinicians to join our practices in Gloucester.

This is an opportunity for GPs who enjoy working in a team environment to join our friendly and family orientated practice in Lydney.

We offer highly flexible working that can be tailored to your needs and balanced with patient requirements. We guarantee finite patients contacts per day and overall, an excellent work-life balance.

We are owned and operated by GDOC ,a not-for- profit organisation owned by all the GP practices in Gloucestershire. Being part of the GDOC family offers our GPs the best of both worlds: being part of a small Practice team providing continuity of care for patients, and the support and career opportunities of a larger organisation to draw upon when you want.

Main duties of the job

This is a fantastic opportunity for a new or established GP seeking a salaried position.

We offer you:

Highly competitive pay: in excess of £11,000 per session. BMA model contract Choice: we can offer the hours and days of work that suit you. Flexible hours to accommodate a portfolio career, family responsibilities, and out of work interest. Options to combine general practice with other professional interests, both within GDOC and externally, including supporting specialisations, continued education and GP training. Friendly, supportive and expert practice teams who work alongside our GP taking care of routine Clinical administrative tasks. The Lydney practice is moving to a new purpose bulit practice building in 2026.

Working Conditions

You will be required to travel independently between GDOCs services in Gloucestershire, including Gloucester and the Forest of Dean, and to attend meetings etc. hosted by other agencies throughout Gloucestershire and, occasionally, in other areas of the UK.

About us

You will be required to be immunisedin compliance with Green Book (link attached) and NHS recommendations for yourrole (unless medically exempt), including immunisations against Covid.

The Care QualityCommission requires us to have a complete employment history from the age of16, including explanations for any gaps in employment.

G DOC LTD is owned by all the GP Practices in Gloucestershire; thePractices are our shareholders.

We operate on a not-for-profit basis: any profits are redistributed intoprimary care in Gloucestershire.

We are a limited company run by a Board of Directors, most of whom are experiencedlocal GPs.

We run a number of GP practices, as well as some other services for thewhole county.

In Gloucester we run 9,500 patients at Gloucester Health Access Centre/MatsonLane (9,500 patients) and Partners inHealth (12,400).

In the Forest of Dean, we run two practices, both of which aredispensing: Lydney (7,500 patients), and Blakeney (3,200 patients).

Our countywide services include:

G DOC is running a Covid Medicines Service to help and support thehigh-risk patients in Gloucestershire.

Over 17,000 primary care appointments each year at Gloucester HealthAccess Centre for patients who may need to be seen the same day when their ownpractice is already full, or who do not have a registered GP. GHAC is open8am8pm, 365 days a year.

Job responsibilities

The practice has a stable clinical staffstructure, but with an increasing patient population and demand means we arelooking to augment the current GPs with additional salaried GP(s) covering 6 to8 sessions.

Options to combine general practice with other professional interests, both within GDOC and externally, including supporting specialisations, continued education and GP training.

Dedicated GP Admin time commensurate to number of clinical sessions.
