Job summary

The Director of Planning and Performance reports directly to the Chief Finance Officer and works with the Chief Operating Officer and other executive colleagues both internal and external to the Trust. This role will seek to optimise planning, performance and business intelligence requirements, eliminating duplication and honing capacity to drive sustainable improvement.

The postholder will have skills in leading and delivering planning, performance management and business intelligence and will demonstrate exceptional skills in partnership working with a range of stakeholders and have experience of operating in complex environment.

Main duties of the job

The Director of Planning and Performance reports directly to the Chief Finance Officer and works with the Chief Operating Officer and other executive colleagues both internal and external to the Trust. This role will seek to optimise planning, performance and business intelligence requirements, eliminating duplication and honing capacity to drive sustainable improvement.

The postholder will have skills in leading and delivering planning, performance management and business intelligence and will demonstrate exceptional skills in partnership working with a range of stakeholders and have experience of operating in complex environment.

Establishing and managing an integrated performance management framework in a formal hierarchy from "ward to board" to System in a way that is complementary to and consistent with the formal structure and management accountability across the Trust and System. The framework will include setting and agreeing performance targets consistent with those agreed in the planning round, ensuring excellent visibility of performance against agreed targets together with a relentless approach to escalation and ensuring the development and testing of solutions to return off-plan or forecast off-plan performance, together with proactive support where needed, back to plan levels.

Job responsibilities

The Performance Assurance Framework will ensure that the Trust Board and Board subcommittees identify and specify the information required to enable them to perform their oversight, scrutiny and assurance functions in an effective way. This framework is also expected to support the ICB Board and sub committee assurance requirements. Thus the performance assurance framework will align with the complex network of performance and accountability relationships that exist within the Trust and System and through the governance process to the Boards and sub-committees.

Responsible for the Healthcare Analytics team, ensuring optimum delivery of business intelligence across the Trust and in collaboration for the system. Working with the ICB Chief Digital and Information Officer to ensure the delivery of the Business Intelligence Road Map for the system.
