As Sustainability Officer at Kepak McIntosh Donald, you will play a crucial role supporting delivery of Environmental and Sustainability programs at site. You will be working closely with our Technical department, assisting in the identification of opportunities for the strategic development of Environmental and Sustainability initiatives, supporting and driving the progression through the Environmental & Sustainability Action Plan.

Key responsibilities:

  • To manage, maintain and develop the environmental management system to continually improve the impact of the organisation on the environment.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the site’s environmental compliance license are monitored, implemented and controlled.
  • Implement environmental strategies and action plans, to ensure corporate sustainable development in line with site and Group strategic objectives
  • Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental, conservation and renewable energy
  • Liaise with relevant bodies such as local authorities, public bodies and competent authorities on environmental matters.

Requirements

Key Requirements:

  • Scientific background desired but not essential. 
  • Previous experience working in an abattoir or food manufacturing business would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 environmental management systems
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation desired
  • Knowledge of effluent treatment plant operations
  • High level of attention to detail is essential with strong IT skills (particularly in relation to the Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent standards of written and spoken English are essential to ensure the building of comprehensive relationships with key stakeholders
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills essential
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Capable of making sound business suggestions
  • Commitment to good practice and quality products
  • Ability to multitask and work under own initiative to deliver to deadlines
