12 months Fixed-Term post (Maternity Cover) - 10 PAs

Applications are invited for a fixed term post in Sexual and Reproductive Health Services, at Hillingdon Community Clinics (1 post), part of the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an ethnically diverse area of the UK with a team renowned for innovation in health care.

The successful candidate will be expected to support the Consultants in the delivery of the highest standards of patient care and service developments. Less than full time commitments would also be welcomed.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work within the Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Services in Hillingdon. The Hillingdon service is based the Wakley Centre, a permanent Hub site in Hayes, Hillingdon, with satellite clinics at Oakland Medical Centre (contraception provision) and at the Hesa clinic, Hayes.

The Brent service is based at Central Middlesex Hospital. The Ealing service is based at Mattock Lane Health Centre with a satellite clinic at the Broadway Health Centre, Southall.

The Harrow service is based at Caryl Thomas Centre in Wealdstone. All services provide a full range of Contraceptive and Reproductive Health Services including high levels of LARC to diverse local populations. Approximately 45,000 contacts annually across all 4 boroughs.

The services are currently working towards integration with the GU Medicine Services historically provided in each borough with a single hospital site at Central Middlesex Hospital and Community based hubs and satellites in Brent, Ealing and Harrow and Hillingdon. The service works closely with e-services, local GPs for the provision of LARC and Pharmacies for the provision of EHC as well as voluntary sector providers working with Young People and providing HIV prevention. All local services are active in training both Doctors and Nurses for DFSRH and LoCs.

Job responsibilities

Requirements for the Post

The appointee will be expected to work with the Consultants (Dr Samantha Hitchings and Dr Luciana Rubinstein), medical, nursing and administrative colleagues to provide Contraceptive and STI management care within an Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Service.

Also he/she will need to:

Provide safe and effective care in line with departmental and national guidelines Help to facilitate the departmental audit programme. Teach GP trainees, undergraduate medical students, and nurses in clinic.

Main duties of the job

Clinical duties will include:

Provision of contraceptive and sexual health clinics, including a dedicated Young Peoples clinic Work towards providing a fully integrated sexual health service with an emphasis on contraceptive provision and STI management

Extensive opportunities for further training and development in SRH and HIV are available and the appointee will be encouraged to become a Faculty Registered Trainer and an STI Foundation Competency Trainer.

Essential

Full GMC Medical Degree MB ChB

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

3 years full time post registration training (or its equivalent on a part time or flexible basis) Previous experience of ISH/CASH or GUM is essential. Demonstrates comprehensive patient management within the sexual health care setting Ability to work independently in an unsupervised environment Capacity to apply sound clinical judgement and decision making

Desirable

Recent experience in the specialty (with the last 12 months) Experience in both sexual and reproductive health and GUM Evidence of ongoing teaching and training Experience with genital skin complaints Audit or published articles
