Nuclear Medicine Imaging Assistant-Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT
2 months ago
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this position is 7.5 hours per day, 7 hours on Friday starting at 8:00, 8:30 or 9:00.
The Nuclear Medicine Department at Gartnavel General Hospital is looking to appoint a Nuclear Medicine Imaging Assistant to support the Nuclear Medicine and PET imaging services.
You will work in both the PET Centre and in the Nuclear Medicine department. The role is focused on patient care. You will be expected to assist the imaging technologists as required (e.g. cleaning, maintain stock) and to support patients in everything from providing tea and coffee, to toileting and helping patients on to the imaging couch. Following appropriate training you will also be expected to undertake cannulation and take blood samples.
The Nuclear Medicine Department at Gartnavel General Hospital operates on two sites on the Gartnavel campus and provides a PET imaging service to the West of Scotland, serving patients from Dumfries to Stornoway. The department, which employs 32 staff, has 2 PET/CT scanners, a SPECT/CT scanner, and a SPECT scanner. The PET service is supported by an on-site cyclotron (which is run separately).

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
For application portal/log-in issues, please contact in the first instance.
