We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with children and wants to develop new skills.

This role involves a combination of clinical and administrative duties and the post holder will assist Speech and Language Therapists in delivering a service within a range of settings including early years and mainstream schools. Strong communication skills are essential as you will be working with children who have speech and language needs as well as liaising with a range of education staff and parents.

Main duties of the job

Your role would include:

Supporting the work of Speech and Language Therapists by providing regular and ongoing therapy to children, with support and supervision.

Working alongside therapists in the delivery of parent/carer workshops

Developing, preparing and maintaining therapy resources

Provide some administrative support to therapists for their clinical work and for related activities such as prepare materials/resources and clinical spaces

Chalkhill Primary Care Centre is close to Wembley Park tube making it easily accessible by public transport.

Education/Qualification

Essential

Educated to GCSE level or above with good written and spoken English as well as good basic numeracy

Desirable

Attendance at training courses relevant to post First aid, Singalong/ Makaton course, BTEC or equivalent in Child Development

Experience

Essential

oExperience of working in a healthcare or childcare environment which brings relevant transferable skills.

Desirable

Experience working with children presenting with special needs for example, children presenting with ASD, Neurological conditions, hearing Impairment, learning disability Experience of group work with children Experience of training or educating others Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team

Skills & Knowledge

Essential

Ability to prioritise workload effectively and work independently Good organization/time management Problem solving skills Basic IT Skills: word, excel, power point, email, internet

Desirable

Understanding of basic principles of the Speech + Language Therapy profession Previous experience of working as a therapy assistant or learning support assistant. Recognition of own capabilities and limitations and seeking guidance when required
