Would you like to be a part of our dynamic Core Birth Centre Team who are focused on creating a holistic and individualised experience.

Giving women choice in their place of birth, birth choices and autonomy can lead onto a positive birthing experience, we embrace and support the use of non-pharmacological analgesia including immersion in water and the use of complementary therapies (aromatherapy, reflexology and hypnobirthing). The core Birth Centre team will enable passionate midwives to provide individualised care; we work closely with our Consultant Midwife with individualised plans created for women with additional care needs.

We want Midwives with demonstrable clinical competencies to help us promote physiological birth in our Birth Centre. Main duties of the job

Working as one of a group of midwives to provide total midwifery care within a hospital setting as part of an integrated service.

You will need to be motivated to want change and be enthusiastic to be an autonomous midwife in a supportive unit. We have commenced environmental changes to the department to encourage women to have a calm birth experience.

Evidence of completion of band 5 preceptorship programme Confident to provide intrapartum care in a low-technology setting Comfortable to use embodied knowledge and skills to assess a woman and her baby as opposed to using technology Able to facilitate physiological birth and only use intervention when clinically indicated Confident to avert or manage problems during labour and birth that might arise Understanding of or willingness to learn biomechanics and how this supports women in labour Confident to offer and facilitate waterbirth as a non-pharmacological analgesia option Personal philosophy of care includes ensuring that all women have physically, psychologically and culturally safe outcomes and experiences which contributes to a smooth transition to parenthood.
