Job description

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week

Location of post: Various across Neath Port Talbot

The Homelessness Assessment, Prevention & Support Services are currently looking for a Nomination Officer to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out the process of nominating homeless households for social housing, ensuring a person centre approach is taken to match the most appropriate applicants to the properties made available for nomination.

The main duties of the post are to;

Consult with clients and partner organisations to ensure that views are acted upon and used to develop the service.Liaise effectively and efficiently with Registered Social Landlord providers.Work closely with colleagues to ensure:The nominations process is streamlined and effective, ensuring the most appropriate applicants are put forward for properties.Accurate financial assessments are completed to confirm suitability for any nominations made.Keep up to date with relevant legislation, statutory guidance and good practice.Assist with the production and compilation of reports and statistical returns as requested by management.Build a strong network of collaborative relationships internally and externally through developing and maintaining positive working relationships with other key directorates/departments within the Local Authority.Ensure safeguarding concerns are dealt with according to the policy.

You will have experience in/of;

Working within a team that delivers front-line housing support to clients.Experience and knowledge of working with RSLs.Seeing tasks through to completion, ensuring they are completed on time or to deadlines.Ability to work under pressure and be flexible in responding to changing circumstances.Excellent Communication skills.Be IT literate, working with the main Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel as well as others.

Ideally you will have;

4 GCSE’S (grades C and above) or equivalent in Maths and English Language.High levels of initiative and self-motivationAccess to suitable transport i.e. driving licence/car is essential. Being able to effectively travel to locations is essential.
