Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for an adept and capable Senior Fire Safety Advisor at Cambridge University Hospitals.

You will provide operational management support for the Fire Safety Team, working throughout the Trust with relevant groups of staff to actively promote developments and improved ways of working, ensuring the delivery of high- quality, effective and efficient service delivery.

Alongside the Fire Safety Manager, you will be responsible for delivery and day to day operations of the Fire Safety Team and support in updating any changes in legislation and guidance, implementing operational service developments across the Division and Trust wide.

Please note: This role is being advertised at Band 7 for fully qualified and experienced candidates. However, we are also able to offer this opportunity as a Band 6 developmental role as an Assistant Fire Safety advisor, which would see the successful candidate placed onto a formal training programme that includes the attainment of both external industry qualifications and internal mentoring and workplace application of learning, until fully qualified at Band 7.

This role will require on-site working at Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Main duties of the job

To provide technical expertise to the Fire Safety Management Team to enable their duties to be fulfilled effectively. Ensuring that relationships with key stakeholders are maintained. Contributing to the preparation of department business and investment plans. Operating within a performance management framework for the Division. Working closely with key stakeholders, particularly within other Trust. Assist in establishing a vision and strategic actions for the departments and the Division. Contribute to the setting of budgets and income plans as well as supporting development of operational plans and strategies as part of the business planning. Day to day operational and administrative.

Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent in-depth experience equivalent to a post graduate level qualification Fire safety level 4 diploma or equivalent level of fire safety competency Professional qualification in discipline related to fire engineering or safety Holder of NEBOSH (Gen Cert) or CFPA Diploma in Fire Prevention or equivalent

Desirable

Member of the National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers or a member of a recognised professional fire body Institute of Fire Prevention Officers Professional registration through a relevant body ( Eng Tech, I. Eng., C Eng.) 3rd party certification under a UKAS accredited fire risk assessor competency scheme Leadership or management qualification or equivalent highly developed specialist experience

Experience of undertaking investigations and preparing reports on fire incidents Experience in undertaking detailed fire risk assessments and fire safety audits.
