We are excited to be able to offer a four-day week term-time, permanent contract providing Speech and Language therapy services into Leicester College,working with learners with a learning disability and other needs.

The successful candidate will be workingautonomously with the learners and college staff to provide communication andswallowing interventions within a modern and purpose-built college setting.

Thecollege is situated near the city centre, with free parking and an outsidespace for group activities and time away from the office.

You would be part of a friendly, supportive SALT team basedin the Adult Learning Disability service.Management and clinical supervision would be provided on a regularbasis, and you will have the opportunity to access peer support, CPD sessionsand other professional activities as part of your role.

We are currently based at Bridge Park Plaza, Thurmaston, on the edge of Watermead Country Park. We will be moving to County Hall, Glenfield Hospital site from End of Spring 2024. Free car parking is available at both sites.

Main duties of the job

You will be working with learners with a learning disability and other needs. The successful candidate will be working autonomously with the learners and college staff to provide communication and swallowing interventions within a modern and purpose-built college setting.

Demonstrate well-developed skills in dealing with complex clinical issues, ensuring effective caseload management.

Provide assessment, diagnosis and intervention approaches for children with communication, and where appropriate, eating and drinking needs Demonstrate well-developed skills in dealing with complex clinical issues, ensuring effective caseload management. Empower and enable carers to facilitate communication skills in adult with a learning disability. Provide advice to others regarding the support of adults with learning disabilities with communication and / or eating and drinking needs. Advise on the promotion of positive communication environment. to meet needs Refer on to other services / agencies as appropriate. Ensure quality, safety and reduction of risk in service delivery by use of evidence- based practice. Produce written reports regarding needs, summarising proposed intervention plans and future recommendations.

Previous experience of working with children / young people and adults learning disability Relevant postgraduate experience in Speech and Language Therapy role. Previous experience of mentorship/support of other Speech and Language Therapy colleagues. Previous experience of caseload management

Qualifications

Essential

Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent. HCPC Licence to practice. Registered member of RCSLT

Desirable

Evidence of postgraduate continuing professional development relevant to the role.
