An exciting opportunity has arisen to for an experienced radiographer to work at the largest paediatric radiology department in Europe.

We are seeking to recruit to our vibrant, dynamic and diverse team an enthusiastic and highly motivated full time Superintendent Radiographer to lead and deliver the General X-ray department service. 

This is an exciting time to join the department with a new cancer wing being built due to open in 2026, replacement of equipment with new and innovative technology, with the recent installation of a Siemens Cios Spin for spinal imaging as well as being able to develop and support an apprenticeship Radiographer scheme.

You will require excellent clinical, management and technical experience.  You will lead a team of committed radiographers, leading them by example with exceptional imaging, communication and interpersonal skills. 

Responsibilities across these varied modalities will involve the optimisation and procurement of appropriate equipment, training and development of new and rotational staff and a commitment to advancing quality, service and patient care across all these areas.

Main duties of the job

  • Take full responsibility for the management and operational issues of the Generals/Fluoroscopy/ Dental x-ray including cone beam CT and DEXA service.
  • Take the lead in promoting and delivering a highly tailored patient focused service, ensuring high standard of patient care and an imaging service that is responsive to the patient needs are maintained at all times
  • Take responsibility for regular monitoring and management of any relevant waiting lists and proactively work towards reducing any waits in a consistent way ensuring compliance with government guidelines
  • To take the lead for professional line management of the static (and where appropriate rotational) radiographic staff in theses modalities and, if required, administrative staff, providing mandatory Personal Development Review (PDR) to ensure staff are fulfilling their work requirement.
  • To undertake clinical imaging duties
    1. To actively manage the unit on a daily basis, this includes:
    • Supervision of staff to ensure they are working within the unit’s protocol.
    • Allocating shift duties to staff, ensuring cover is provided for extended working day.
    • Prioritising and co-ordinating emergency requests.
    • Organising the workload, ensuring efficiency and all scheduled appointments carried out in a timely manner.

  • HDCR, MSc in Diagnostic Radiography or Significant experience acquired in Diagnostic Radiography to master’s level or equivalent

  • Substantial and demonstrable experience in Diagnostic Imaging

  • Demonstratable experience in Leadership
