At LGT we are currently seeking a highly motivated, resourceful clinical pharmacist to join our energetic and well-motivated team. Interested candidates will have a breadth of clinical experience at Band 6 or 7 level having provided clinical services to a variety of wards and clinical areas.

Main duties of the job

Under the guidance and support of the lead clinical pharmacists, you will be introduced to core directorate activities of reporting and analysis of medicines expenditure, clinical governance and risk management. You will be responsible for co-developing and improving pharmacy services whilst also providing professional cover and training to junior and pre-registration pharmacists.

Furthermore, the role will provide you with the opportunity to be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team where you can provide support for service development through projects, audits and education. Ongoing learning from specialists and senior pharmacists will offer an abundance of opportunities to improve your knowledge allowing you to attain the required skills for your personal development.

Applicants must be currently registered with the GPhC as a pharmacist and have completed or be close to completion of a clinical postgraduate diploma.

The successful candidate will join a team of enthusiastic senior and rotational pharmacists to enhance their experience in a variety of exciting rotations including Admissions and Cardiology, Frailty with Antibiotics, Frailty with HIV, Surgery and Critical Care, Medicine and Neurology, Specialist Medicine with High Cost Drugs, Paediatrics and Maternity and Formulary experience

Job responsibilities

4 . Job Purpose: To deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to the named Trust directorate and act as a key member of the team in accordance with the objectives set between the Principal Pharmacist, Clinical Services and the Lead develop skills, knowledge and experience needed to become a lead clinical pharmacist.

Supervises: Junior pharmacists / Trainee Pharmacists / Ward-Based Pharmacy Technicians / Undergraduate Pharmacy Students

High quality care for every patient, every To participate in relevant ward rounds in order to make pro-active interventions on drug related To follow legal, ethical, professional and employers codes of Education and To act as a tutor and educational facilitator for the Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy To provide support when required for junior and Trainee Pharmacists during their rotations including provision of information, informal teaching and assessment of Trainee and Diploma competencies in General Pharmacy To provide teaching and training sessions on pharmacy related issues to pharmacy, ward and clinical staff.

Qualifications & Training

Essential

B. Pharm / M. Pharm / BSc (Pharmacy) or equivalent Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Postgraduate Diploma in either Clinical Pharmacy or General Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent) or be able to demonstrate the intention to complete within 12 months of being in post

Desirable

Post-Graduate Qualification in Independent Prescribing

Experience

Essential

A minimum of 2 years post registration experience in hospital pharmacy Demonstrate experience in clinical pharmacy practice - range of specialities Supervision and training of others Examples of clinical audit and literature evaluations

Desirable

A minimum of 3 years post registration experience in hospital pharmacy Previous experience delivering formal education and training sessions Development of evidence based guidelines. Previous experience screening and managing high cost drug prescriptions

Good communication skills, both written and oral, of specialist clinical information. Self-motivated and ability to motivate others.
