About Us:
Role Overview:
Our Service at Chester mainly provides tailored support to young people aged 15-19 with care experience, to prepare for and transition in to independent living in their own tenancy. The Service supports the young people to develop independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning and personal hygiene. Managing budgets and understanding the wider benefits of work is also critical, and the young people access programmes for education, training and employment.
We are recruiting to fill a Young People Support Worker role at our new service in Cheshire West and Chester. The appointed candidates will join the team on a full-time (37.5 hours per week) , permanent basis.
As Young People Support Worker, you will manage a caseload of young people and will support them in working towards their goals which will lead to further independence. Support will take place in young people’s accommodation and also out in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete full assessment of each young person’s strengths, needs and goals to develop a holistic and strengths-based support plan and tailored programme of support. Provide a programme of support with young people to cover accommodation needs, independent living skills, support with education, employment and learning and social and emotional issues. To support young people aged 15+ to prepare for independent living and develop necessary skills. Help young people to apply for benefits, complete relevant application forms, train to learn budgeting skills and managing money, including support to prioritise and pay bills and rent.Kindly see attached job description for more information about this job opportunity.
What We Are Looking For – Person Specification:
Able to work on own initiative but at same time able to exercise sound judgement in knowing when to consult with peers and clients to meet the service KPI’s A clear understanding and ability to implement risk management, information sharing and data security arrangements. Experience of helping Young People with setting up benefits, developing independent living skills and maintaining their accommodation Experience of working with young people who may have complex needs such as mental health issues, drug and alcohol misuse, domestic abuse and offending behavior.
