Highfield School is an 11-19 secondary school for pupils with severe learning difficulties. Our pupils have a wide range of additional needs including speech, language and communication difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions, more complex learning needs, physical disabilities and a number have rare genetic disorders. Our school is a popular and oversubscribed. Pupils benefit from our highly specialised teaching, outstanding pastoral care and the wide range of specialist support services and interventions we provide through our personalised programmes.

Due to our growing school, we are looking to recruit three full time teachers – 1 x PE, 1 x formal pathway and 1 x SCERTS pathway.

The candidates will be confident in using their knowledge and expertise to deliver lessons that meet the needs of all pupils, giving regular feedback and encouraging our young people to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their own work and personal development. 

Ideally, you will have a good understanding of our pupils' special educational needs and/or prior experience of working in education. Alternatively, you may be working in mainstream looking to move into special education. A good knowledge of the primary curriculum would be a welcomed advantage.
