About the role:

We are looking for a Personal Achievement Tutor to join our Sixth Form. As Tutor you will play a pivotal role in the success of the students through:

Student Support : Deliver tutorial support and professional skills development to help students stay on-programme and achieve their potential. Group and Individual Support : Provide weekly group and one-to-one support in specific vocational/academic areas, covering topics like safeguarding, resilience, health, life skills, and employability. Pastoral Care : Ensure attendance, retention, and progression targets by identifying at-risk students and offering appropriate intervention. Collaboration : Work with relevant stakeholders to maximize student progression. Safeguarding : Actively promote the College’s safeguarding agenda.

About you:

Essential

Good all-round education to include qualifications at Level 3 Maths and English to GCSE (Grade A – C) or equivalent PTLLS or willingness to gain within a year Willingness to work towards Level 2 Safeguarding and Youth Mental Health First Aid qualification Willingness to work towards health and safety in the work place qualifications Experience of working in a further education, sixth form or related setting Experience of working in a student support or related role Experience of providing advice, guidance and/or education to young people and/or adults Experience of delivering group sessions to facilitate aspects of the tutorial curriculum Previous experience of handling enquiries and contacting employers and external agencies Ability to communicate with a diverse range of audiences including young people, parents, managers and team members Excellent organisation skills and ability to prioritise own workload, work under pressure and meet deadlines Excellent IT, administrative and record-keeping skills and drive to enhance learning through technology Ability to provide a consistently high-quality learning experience for all students Must have full clean driving license and use of own vehicle for work purposes with appropriate insurance

Degree or equivalent professional qualification Training/qualifications in advice and/or guidance Training/qualifications in teaching Safeguarding training Equality and diversity training Experience of coaching or motivating a diverse range of people to improve performance Knowledge and/or experience of aspects of the tutorial curriculum and outcomes for students, including personal social development, study skills, career learning and employability Previous experience of working for a Work Based learning/Training provider

About The Bedford College Group
The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
