CONTRACT 12 MONTHS FIXED TERM

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

The clinical service unit of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery is looking for enthusiastic and well-motivated Specialty Dentists to join our team.

This post provides a great opportunity to gain significant experience in one of the largest Tertiary referral Centre of Excellence in the UK.

The successful candidate will be working across Manchester Royal Infirmary, Wythenshawe Hospital and Stepping Hill Hospital alongside consultants, Associate Specialists, specialist trainees, staff grades, Specialty Dentists and many wider MDT colleagues.

Main duties of the job

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The post holder will be required to work in Emergency Department at MRI, Hot clinics and outpatient clinics, operating sessions under LA in the departments, operating sessions under GA in the operating theatres (supported subject to level of experience and confidence as assessed by consultant in charge and occasionally see referrals from other departments on the ward according to the needs of the department.

Clinical responsibility will be to the Consultants. The post holder's duties will time-tabled to support all Consultants, to whom the post holder will be responsible. Supportive training will be available in all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

oFull GDC Registration MFDS Qualified

Experience/Knowledge & Skills

Relevant experience at DCT level within Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Desirable

A specific interest in facial trauma, membership of relevant organisations Experience of having worked at middle grade level in an Acute Oral & Maxillofacial setting. ATLS and ALS certified

Training

Completion of recognised training post (DF, DCT1, DCT2 etc).

Keen interest in learning & teaching

Clinical Ability

Capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge and awareness to fully investigate problems. Capable of conducting operative procedures.
