Job Summary

This is a role which is critical to our future success and in saving and improving lives.

You will be involved in both offices based and field based activities where you can use your communication and marketing skills to recruit members of the public to become blood donors Supporting the achievement of the new donors attending target and the directorate objective to ‘make donation matter’.

You will be involved in national campaigns and activities, implementing these on a regional basis and supporting the wider blood marketing team to achieve the campaign objectives.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be supporting the Community Development team to meet the new recruits attending targets for the region, through the organisation of new donor acquisition activity. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Organising and undertaking new donor acquisition activity within the team such as events and business development opportunities.
  • Making proactive approaches to new businesses as agreed with their line manager / within the strategic plan to meet organisational objectives.
  • Developing relationships with key third sector and corporate organisations within the region.
  • Managing these relationships so that they provide maximum benefit.
  • Maintains the Relationship Management database in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Promotes organ donation and other forms of donation where appropriate.

You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours, including weekend and bank holiday working, particularly during campaign periods, with prior notice.

About You

Experience and Knowledge

  • Communicate succinctly, clearly and accurately in plain simple English, both verbally and in writing
  • Be an effective team member who is able to relate to colleagues at all levels across our large multi-site organisation with tact and diplomacy
  • Recognise your own job role boundaries / limits of practice and know when to ask for guidance
  • Follow written instructions and ensure the services you provide are in line with standard processes and good practice, showing attention to detail
  • Prioritise own workload and take responsibility for delivering results within agreed timescales and standards with changing priorities and pressures
  • Use initiative to look out for issues at work, acting quickly and calmly to focus on finding a solution

Qualifications and Training

  • Educated to Degree level or degree equivalent knowledge
  • Possession of a valid driving licence, allowing you to drive in the UK

Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
