Exciting Opportunity for a Project Manager in Utilities – Join Thames Water's Developer Services Major Projects Team

Are you ready to make a real impact in the world of utilities? Thames Water is looking for a dynamic and driven Project Manager to lead a variety of major water and wastewater projects, ranging from £150,000 to £5 million+. This is your chance to shape the future of London's and the Thames Valley's infrastructure while working on high-profile projects that truly make a difference.

What you will be doing as the Project Manager

As a Project Manager, you'll be at the heart of Thames Water’s most important projects, guiding multidisciplinary teams to success. You will oversee everything from initial concept through to final handover, crafting innovative solutions for both high-profile customers and Thames Water-led initiatives.

Your role will ensure that every project runs like clockwork—on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Collaborating with a wide range of internal and external experts, you'll plan, execute, and deliver impactful results while keeping stakeholders informed and engaged.

In addition, you will undertake the following key accountabilities:
  • Lead diverse project portfolios: Manage complex water and wastewater projects across the London region.
  • Drive successful outcomes: Define project scope, plans, and budgets that align with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Stakeholder management: Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring everyone is on the same page.
  • Project reviews and reporting: Conduct regular project updates, and review meetings, and produce insightful reports covering costs, timelines, and risks.
  • Champion health & safety: Lead with a safety-first mindset, including conducting H&S audits.
  • Financial oversight: Provide up-to-date financial reports on project costs, accruals, and forecasts.
  • Governance and compliance: Follow strict governance processes, ensuring project milestones are met.

What you should bring to the role:
  • Problem-solving mindset: You’ll break down complex issues into manageable solutions with an analytical approach.
  • Commercial savvy: You understand how to enhance profitability while keeping a close eye on the bottom line.
  • Utilities Sector Experience: Proven experience in managing large-scale projects within the water, wastewater, or broader utilities sector, with a strong understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Leadership excellence: You inspire and unify diverse teams, influencing others to meet and exceed project goals.
  • Big-picture thinking: You can see beyond the project at hand, making strategic decisions that benefit both the project and future innovations.
  • Risk management expertise: You’ll proactively identify potential risks and create action plans to mitigate them.
  • Innovative thinking: You’re not afraid to challenge the status quo, continuously seeking ways to add value for the customer and the business.

What’s in it for you?

At Thames Water, you’ll be part of a forward-thinking team tackling some of the most complex and important projects in the utilities sector. If you have a passion for delivering impactful results, and a desire to innovate for the future, we want to hear from you. • Contributory pension – Defined Contribution - Maximum of 12% -2x employee contribution.
