Specialty Doctor in Paediatric Dermatology

Sheffield, United Kingdom Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job summary

This newly created post offers the chance to join a dedicated and forward looking team and represents a major development in the provision of paediatric dermatology services to the children in the Yorkshire region. It is a full time clinical appointment based at Sheffield Children's Hospital. The clinical duties will focus on providing secondary and tertiary dermatology services via clinics and to in-patients.

There are no general paediatric or dermatology out-of-hours on-call commitments with this post.

Applications are invited from candidates with evidence of training in paediatric dermatology. This post has been provided to meet the increasing demands for dermatology services, both in terms of new referrals and ongoing follow up, as well as the need to further develop tertiary dermatology services.

Main duties of the job

The Department of Paediatric Dermatology is based in the main Children's Hospital on Western Bank. The post holder will join a medical team of four consultants and an associate specialist who provide the paediatric dermatology services at Sheffield Children's Hospital. Dermatology trainees currently rotate from Sheffield Teaching Hospital. We provide secondary and tertiary level dermatology services to the children of Sheffield and South Yorkshire and increasing to children from further afield. There is a possibility that some of the clinic allocation may be held as outreach clinics in the DGH setting in due course.

It is hoped that the new post holder will contribute to developing the tertiary dermatology service further. We welcome and support the development of special interests within paediatric dermatology.
