The NHS Kent & Medway People and Culture directorate isseeking an enthusiastic and experienced health professional with an interest indeveloping and promoting practice education. This is one of three ProjectManager Placement Expansion posts, to develop placement capacity and qualityby utilising multiple models of supervision and technology and diverseplacements for Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals.

You will work across organisational boundaries with othermembers of the Education and Careers programme team and with providerorganisations in both health and care sectors such NHS Trusts, private, voluntary,and independent sector providers to implement new and diverse models forpractice learning. You will also scope and evaluate placement capacity andallocation models to ensure an equitable approach across the system.

Main duties of the job

The secondments will be until end of March 2025. Full andpart time hours, job share and those wishing to retain their clinical role forpart of their working week will be considered. Please contact the recruitingmanager to discuss this.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The postholder will oversee the development of amulti-professional placement expansion programme for the Kent and Medway IntegratedCare System (KMICS), focused on increasing placement capacity, quality andlearner experience for the nursing, midwifery, and allied health professionals.

Working with learning environment leads and practice educationfacilitators, the post holder will provide a key link between operations,students and education providers whilst maintaining a strategic role inenhancing the quality of the learning environment for all health care learnerswithin Kent & Medway ICS, in partnership with NHS England WTE localuniversities, and other local placement providers.

This post will evaluate capacity and allocation modelling toensure a fair and equitable approach and will also ensure placements are of ahigh quality and sustainable. This post will also influence and organise thedevelopment of high-quality placements/ learning environments by providingsupport, educational and development activities for apprentices,pre-registration students and associated mentors/educators.

The post holderwill support the People & Culture Programme Lead(s) to ensure that theirworkstream/ programmes are planned and managed effectively and take the lead inassisting in their successful delivery.

Essential

Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners, creating conditions for excellent partnership working. Highly developed organisational skills, ability to prioritise own workload effectively and support work planning across a team, working to tight, often changing timescales. As an additional, desirable criterion, recent line or matrix management experience. Ability to create and lead multi-disciplinary project teams or task and finish groups to support the delivery of shared objectives Ability to create concise but informative communications for a range of stakeholders such as information, advice and guidance, or teaching resources. Capability to act upon incomplete information, using experience to make inferences and decision making. Capability to plan over short, medium, and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly. Understanding the changing NHS environment and its impact on service, provision staff and patients.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered healthcare professional (NMC, HCPC) with additional specialist qualification or experience in relation to education and practice development. Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level qualification (or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area).

Experience

Essential

Recent experience of either, planning and organising pre-registration practice placements, or acting as a practice educator, supervisor or assessor, or acting as a legacy mentor in a health or care environment. Experience of project and programme management techniques and tools such as PRINCE2 or Managing Successful Projects (MSP). Significant experience of successfully operating in politically sensitive, complex and/or challenging environments with complex stakeholder management. Experience of managing and reporting risks. Experience of drafting written briefing papers, reports, or correspondence for a varied group of internal and external stakeholders at all levels. As an additional, desirable criterion, to include SMT level. Experience of creating and giving visual and oral presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders. Experience of planning and delivering improvement projects, preferably involving practice education in a health or care setting.
