Job summary

The Performance and Information team provide a high-quality analytics service for clinicians and managers to support decision making. The team sits centrally in the Trust and looks after business intelligence, data analytics, information governance and ensures that data is dealt with legally, securely, efficiently and effectively in order to deliver best possible care.

The successful applicant will be part of a high performing team managing a comprehensive data warehouse containing integrated data from clinical, finance and workforce systems. The team has been recognised by NHSI as a national leader in developing high quality performance reports.

We are looking for a proactive, organised and collaborative individual, with a passion for using data and visualisations to influence and provide insights to help improve health outcomes of people experiencing mental health problems.

As part of the interview process, there will be a presentation. The topic and data for the presentation will be provided before interview day. The interview will take place in person, you will be required to bring a photo ID. Acceptable photo ID will be outlined and confirmed in the interview invite.

Main duties of the job

You will be working as part of a centralised Information team and be responsible for providing a data analytics and dashboard/visualisation development service to clinicians and managers to support decision making and evidence-based care. You will be responsible for the development of submission of statutory returns, whilst driving insights, change and evidence interventions.

You will be undertaking and explaining complex concepts and information people across the business and will be creating effective data visualisations in order to convey information and improve data literacy.

Job responsibilities

In addition to the main duties outline for the role, some of the key responsibilities include:

Develop and produce external mandatory returns to an agreed timetable. Produce regular internal reports to an agreed timetable. These will include: Contract monitoring Trust Board reports Data quality reports Performance indicator reports and clinical dashboards Utilise SQL on a daily basis to maintain the Trust Data Warehouse Lead on the development of data quality monitoring tools and techniques to support the accurate reporting of all internal and external reports. Develop data feeds into the Data Warehouse and dashboards/visualisations for use by relevant Trust staff using Tableau software. Contribute to the provision of a high quality information analysis service for all areas within the Trust interpreting and analysing data, providing clear, accurate and timely reports to managers, clinicians and other Trust staff. Undertake work with senior clinicians and managers to support the development of strategic plans for the provision and development of information analysis within directorates. Develop processes for converting extracted data into national and locally defined data sets. Person Specification

Training & Qualifications

Essential

Educated to degree level in a mathematical based subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in a specialist area Evidence of continuing professional and personal development Educated to A-levels or equivalent

Experience of manipulating data in relational databases to provide information reports Demonstrable experience of producing and presenting performance and statistical information Intermediate, recent and demonstrable experience of , information systems and key MS Office packages Experience of managing a busy workload with conflicting priorities Experience of developing and improving data collection and reporting systems

Desirable

Experience of working with NHS/ public sector information Experience of handling confidential and sensitive information in accordance with the Data Protection Act Use of data visualisation software Tableau, Power BI

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

Knowledge of information systems which includes the ability to operate and manipulate data from a database in order to write and present clear, concise reports and containing performance and statistical information Good understanding of relational databases concepts Ability to write SQL scripts within either an MS Access or SQL Server environment Excellent verbal and written (report writing) communication skills Ability to plan, prioritise and organise a number of activities and reprioritise to meet tight, conflicting and often changing deadlines Ability to present technical (statistical) concepts to a non-technical audience Good knowledge user of Microsoft Office - Excel or Access Proven mathematical reasoning and analytical skills Good problem analysis and determination skills Ability to establish and develop data capture and reporting systems Take decisions on difficult and contentious issues where there may be a number of courses of action Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including Senior managers
