Health Care Support Worker:

Rotherham Hospice is pleased to be able to recruit to more Health Care Support Worker positions to help deliver the Community Overnight Service, a new service provided by the Hospice, which commenced in April 2024.

This was a new service in April 2024, which was shaped by extensive work into what is needed by patients given a palliative diagnosis or who are approaching end of life.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Healthcare Support Worker as part of theHospice Overnight Service. You will be part of a new service (launched in April 2024), which following extensive work, willcontinue to be lead and be further developed by the needs of our patients.

You will be responsible for taking callsfrom families and patients, providing planned and responsive visits to community patients, andworking collaboratively supporting the inpatient unit where there is service capacity.You will be expected to deliver a high standard of care to our palliative and end of life patients.With knowledge and understanding of symptom management and care and compassion in oftenemotive situations. As part of the role you would be expected and supported to develop clinicalskills that will support our patients to stay in their own homes.

The role offers the opportunity for personal development within a specialist service that will beintegrated with the day time team providing cohesive wrap around care and support forcommunity palliative patients.

We began offering Day Hospice services in 1994, and have grown over the years to nowprovide a 14 bed Inpatient Unit alongside our Hospice Community Team who provide carein the community. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers work together to providepalliative care that incorporates psychological, physical, social and spiritual support to helppatients and their families achieve the very best quality of life, both at home and in theHospice.
