Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Urology Department at Peterborough City Hospital . We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our very busy and dedicated admin team.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Senior Medical Secretary and clinical team within the Department and also ensuring the provision of an effective, efficient and professional service for our patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to perform a high level of secretarial and administration tasks within the specialty. You will need to be able to work efficiently, with a high degree of accuracy and work flexibly and confidentially across the Trust independently and as part of a team liaising with colleagues at all levels.

You will have good communication skills and will be responsive to the needs of the service. You will be a point of contact for patients, speciality teams and other departments for all enquiries relating to patients. You will be responsible for the tracking and managing of patient pathways in accordance with the National targets.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

Educated to GCSE level standard English Language at Grade A - C (or equivalent) Experience in Audio Typing

Desirable

NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or Customer Service or equivalent experience or willing to undertake NVQ level 2

Experience

Essential

Experience of customer service in a healthcare environment reception, call centre, administration

Desirable

Experience of working in a health care environment Experience of using hospital systems including PAS, e-track, ICE Experience of hospital outpatient administration processes

Knowledge

Essential

Knowledge and understanding of Data Protection, Patient Confidentiality and Information Governance Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including excel, word and outlook.

Desirable

NHS Administration Services & Processes Understanding or awareness of national and local OP targets including 18 week RTT and Cancer targets. Knowledge of Hospital PAS Outpatient Clinic make-up.

Skills

Essential

Good verbal and written communication skills Able to liaise with Patients, Carers, Visitors, Trust staff at all levels and various external organisations including GP Practices and Prison Services Ability to operate effectively as part of a team Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise work. Able to demonstrate initiative, innovate, be proactive and work unsupervised
