We have an exciting opportunity for a Cancer Pathway Co-ordinator to join our dynamic team in Cancer Services.

As a key member of the Cancer Services Department, the post holder will engage with and work alongside the Clinical Divisions, senior medical staff, nursing staff, other health care professionals and partner organisations within the Network across the patient journey. The Cancer Pathway Co-ordinators play a pivotal role in supporting the cancer teams by navigating and tracking patients along their pathway, co-ordinating all hospital appointments, investigations through to treatment.

They will provide support to the Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings which are held on a regular basis and where individual patient management plans are discussed.

The role ensures there is effective co-operation between the Clinical Divisions and other departments involved in the delivery of cancer services including:

Using the cancer management information system for recording clinical and performance data Proactively managing waiting times for individual cancer patients Support service improvement to streamline the patient journey and improve the quality of patient care Co-ordinate MDT meetings in accordance with the National Cancer Peer Review standards Evaluate and contribute to the development of this role and the role of Cancer Pathway Administrator

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will possess excellent IT skills, knowledge of medical terminology and will have a good working knowledge of cancer pathways and cancer waiting times within an acute Trust setting.

You must also be a confident communicator with the ability to liaise accurately with a wide range of different professional groups (both clinical and non-clinical).

Among your skills will be the ability to work in a fast moving, challenging environment while being able to keep focused on the job in hand.

The successful candidate will also have the following skills:-

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including English Language and Maths

Desirable

A level or NVQ III in Business Administration or equivalent experience acquired through patient administration Information and computing qualification ( CLAIT, ECDL or equivalent)

Previous Experience

Essential

Experience of using Microsoft Office - to include Word, Excel and Outlook

Desirable

Experience of working in the NHS Experience of working in an office environment Experience of using Primary Treatment Lists (PTLs)
