Health, Safety and Environment SpecialistLondon (6-month temp position)

Schedule: Monday- Friday 9:00am – 5:30 pm

Salary: 70,000 GBP annually 

Job Description:

VitalCheck Wellness is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Specialist for employees of a global investment management company with a location in London, England.    

We are looking for an HSE professional to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for supporting health and safety programs in the London office and supporting initiatives throughout the EMEA region.   

To ensure success as an HSE specialist, you should have experience applying HSE knowledge to support company safety policies and occupational safety and health standards. Ultimately, an outstanding safety specialist should be able to identify opportunities to minimize workplace health hazards quickly and efficiently. If you are detail oriented and committed to bettering the workplace, this could be the perfect job for you.   

Responsibilities: 

  • Support the delivery of safety programs including, but not limited to:
    • Emergency preparedness
    • Incident management
    • Employee training
    • New joiner orientation
    • Ergonomics and workplace needs assessments
    • Travel and event safety
    • Radiation safety
    • Chemical management
    • Vendor due diligence
    • Contractor safety management
  • Assist in accident and injury prevention programs and incident investigations, analyze incident data, creating awareness by communicating lessons learned.
  • Support hazard identification and risk assessment programs.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment/processes for potential safety concerns.
  • Assist internal safety and compliance audits/inspections, follow-up with corrective actions to close audit findings.
  • Experienced in emergency response and preparedness activities.
  • Responsible for recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures to management based on observations and data analysis.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or equivalent experience with appropriate certification.
  • Knowledge of ergonomics.
  • Experience evaluating contractor safety and ensuring safety protocols are followed for operational and construction activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English and customer service skills.
  • Able to think critically and quickly in a fluctuating environment for multiple situations at a time.
  • Confidence working in a corporate environment.
  • Proficiency with technology.
