Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine Outpatients at Queen Charlotte & Chelsea Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to take on a team leader role within the team, supporting the operational delivery of our services.

The role is to support the Business Manager in the delivery of a high-quality service, ensuring that day to day services are managed in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints. The post holder will be required to line manage a team.

This is a completely new role for the service, so the post holder will help shape what this role will look like in the future.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our supportive and friendly team. You will support Services across Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine including the Gynaecology Outpatient Clinic, Victor Boney ward, Early Pregnancy Unit and the Oncology service. To be successful in this role, you will have to be organised, resilient, result driven and a self-starter. Awareness of Trust systems like Cerner, eRS, Rego, CDL, DrDoctor, and Somerset would be an advantage.

The ideal candidate should be confident to deal with daily situations but also have the acumen to escalate to senior managers as required. You must be a good communicator and be able to successfully engage with all stakeholders, including clinicians, nursing and managers at all levels.

You will fully participate in meetings and provide support to the Senior Management Team. You should be capable of learning and working with new systems as we continue to streamline and modernise, and be able to manage well under pressure and often in unpredictable circumstances.

You will support the General Manager, Deputy General Managers and Business Managers as required. You will have a can-do attitude with the fortitude to challenge outdated practices and thinking.

The post holder will be a key member supporting the Senior Management Team.

You will need to show a degree of flexibility and be able to think on your feet. Attention to detail is crucial, and the candidate must exercise discretion when dealing with confidential matters. Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel and Powerpoint is essential. If this sounds like you, we would be keen to hear from you.

An eye for detail is essential, the ability to work to a deadline and an enthusiastic can-do attitude is crucial for this role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide support and expert knowledge to the administration team within the Elective Care Operating Framework team,a Trust wide framework initiated to look at the way elective care is managed across the Trust. The post holder will oversee all the administrative and clerical processes that are necessary to enable a high quality, effective patient focused service to support the timely delivery of elective care. The post holder will ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are followed and support the administration team and senior managers in ensuring that elective care performance targets are achieved. The post holder will be responsible for providing regular updates on procedure coding, DM01 performance, PTL management, and escalation to senior managers of any issues which hinder the safe and timely delivery of the patient pathway in their OP areas.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

GCSE level (including English & Maths) or equivalent. Educated to degree level or have equivalent experience / qualification

Desirable

Management/Leadership qualification / business qualification or equivalent experience Excel training/qualification Quality improvement training

Experience

Essential

Operational experience in a managerial role. Staff management including objective setting and appraisal, performance review & people development. Knowledge of the patient pathways, patient priorities and elective care performance targets, with specific focus on DM01, RTT and cancer pathways Experience of using a full range of IT/Patient data systems

Desirable

Advanced use of electronic patient record systems with the ability to interrogate the system In-depth understanding of Medical Terminology appropriate to service

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential

Accurate entry and retrieval of information on database systems Good written skills in order to set standards for outgoing documentation Manages and interprets data correctly to inform decision making Able to identify areas for improvement and implement processes as appropriate
