The Biomarker AssaySciences group is positioned within Early Clinical Development andTranslational Science (ECD&TS) which as a departmentprovides strategy and support in integratedpharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics and DMPK biomarker analysisimmunogenicity safety clinical development and regulatoryactivities throughout the lifespan of projects from targetidentification through to clinical studies of diversepharmacological candidates including novel chemical biological andgene therapyderived assets. The Biomarker Assay Sciences groupoperates and collaborates closely with colleagues across theorganization to support bioanalysis and biomarker activities in theprogression from research into theclinic.
TheBiomarker Assay Sciences group is looking for a high caliberscientist to join the team to support clinical transcriptomics as aSubject Matter Expert. The successful applicant will be responsiblefor planning and technical oversight of Biomarker Transcriptomicsactivities outsourced to CROs. They will also have the opportunityto expand their skills and work flexibly on labbased projects inthe Biomarker Assay Sciences team alongside biomarker specialistsin the Immunohistochemistry Flow Cytometry Ligand Binding and LCMSfields. The required candidate should have a strong scientificbackground good written and verbal communication skills and behighly selfmotivated with a proven ability to multitask effectivelyand adapt to meet the demands of a fastpaced matrixteamenvironment.
Therole is based in the UK inSlough.

RequirementsRoleandResponsibilities:
As a Subject Matter Expert support clinical transcriptomicsoutsourced activities from a planning and technical perspectivesand ensure timely delivery of highquality fitforpurpose assays androbustdata.
Conduct and support sample analysis quality control datainterpretation andreporting.
Maintain up to date knowledge of new and emerging techniques andapproaches relevant to the transcriptomics and biomarkerfields.
Where appropriate support the development of biomarker assays inthelaboratories.
Ensure compliance with all health and safetyregulations.

Skillsand experiencerequired

Candidates should have a BSc or higher academic qualification in abiological discipline with good theoretical understanding of theprincipals of molecular biology and transcriptomics (in particularRNA sequencing and RTqPCR) and the application to biomarkeranalysis in clinicalstudies.
Practical experience of the complete workflow for RNA sequencingexperiments from sample extraction library preparation and qualitycontrol sequencing runs includingtroubleshooting.
Practical experience in Molecular Biology methods including RNAextraction from a variety of biofluids and tissue matrices primerand probe design quantitative PCR (realtime and/or ddPCR) and dataanalysis.
Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail essentialalongside enthusiasm to strengthen existing workflows andreporting
Clear grasp of context of use (linking biomarker assay requirementsto the usage of the datagenerated)
Demonstrated ability to work flexibly in a dynamic environment tomeet project needs and timelines with minimalsupervision
Ability to work in a matrix team and communicate in a clear andtimely manner with a wide range of internal and externalstakeholders.
Adaptable to changing project and organizational priorities alignedwith departmentalneeds
Preferred
Experience of working in a pharmaceutical drug discovery anddevelopmentenvironment.
Experience of Protein analysis usingOLINK
Experience working with Contract Research Organisations (CROs) tooversee method development validation and/or sample analysis toagreeddeadlines.
Experience in tissue and biofluid collection handling and storagein clinicalsettings.
Experience of working with human tissue under the directives of theHuman Tissue Act (HTA) and experience of working with samples andstudies under GCPcompliance
Practical experience in any of the following techniques would be anadvantage: histology and immunohistochemistry Immunoassay andligand binding assays Flow cytometry assaysLCMS.
