Job summary

We are a diverse team looking to adapt and develop our current Practice model to navigate the forthcoming changes to the NHS and are therefore seeking an ANP to join our clinical team in the challenging environment of General Practice in the Forest of Dean.

Your role would be key to engaging with our patients while integrating into the team as a whole.

Main duties of the job

Thepost holder will demonstrate courageous and critical thinking and is a caring, compassionate and committed experiencednurse who, acting within their professional boundaries, will provide care forthe presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment,diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. They will demonstrate safe,competent clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment anddiagnostic skills, for patients within the general practice. The post holderwill commit to demonstrating critical thinking in the safe clinicaldecision-making process. They will communicate and work collaboratively withthe general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting thedelivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurse leadership as required.

About us

We are a relatively small Practice with 6500 patients -we currently 6 GPs, 3 Practice Nurses and 2 HCAs as well as 7 Reception staffand 5 admin staff.

We are a tight knit, diverse and happy team with apragmatic view to flexibility for all staff.

We are lucky to be situated in an easily accessible newmodern styled building in Cinderford with good parking for patients and staffalike.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To provide a high-quality, cost-effective service to the patients of the Practice; diagnosing and prescribing treatments and drugs while working within defined procedures and protocols as laid down by the GPs.

Receive patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and make an assessment of their healthcare needs

Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, referral and discharge as appropriate and deliver key elements of NSFs, providing public health, health protection and promotion programmes that improve health and reduce inequalities

To maintain accurate patient records and enter onto the computer using agreed Read Codes

To collect data and participate in regular Practice audit and research projects

To contribute to the preparation of any Practice development plans

To adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct

To maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all Primary Health Care Team staff, patients, carers and co-workers from other agencies. Ensure that all statutory regulations ( Health & Safety, COSHH, etc) are implemented and adhered to

To promote a professional approach at all times by attire and attitude to patients and staff both in and out of the Practice

To maintain own continuous professional development and ensure PDP kept up-to-date in line with the requirements of the Practice

Qualifications

Essential

Registered first level nurse MSc or equivalent Relevant nursing/health degree Mentor/teaching qualification Clinical supervision training and experience Extended/independent nurse

Desirable

Community nursing specialist qualification

Significant post registration experience Recent primary and community nursing experience Nurse-led management of minor illness, minor ailments and injuries Nurse-led triage Compiling protocols and clinical guidelines Clinical Leadership Audit Research Nurse prescribing
