There are opportunities for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the team at the Community Children and Young Peoples Service Occupational Therapy Team.

The Children's Therapy service is made up of a skill mix of committed and forward thinking therapists including OT's, PT's, SLT'S , Nurses and Therapy Support Workers.

The team have a strong interdisciplinary ethos working jointly and in collaboration with colleagues, children and their families. There is an emphasis on showing compassion and respect to children and their families as well as to each other. The team pride themselves on being supportive and there is a robust supervision system in place as well as regular in service training opportunities.

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

You will assess and treat children aged 0-18 years with a wide range of conditions including neurodevelopmental and functional co-ordination disorders. You will treat children and young people at the Children's Therapy Centres, mainstream and special schools and the child's home.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Job responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

To work as part of the multi-disciplinary providing an integrated community children and young peoples health care service. To be professionally and legally accountable as an autonomous professional for all aspects of own work and that delegated to others. To manage a personal caseload , use therapeutic assessment for children and plan appropriate management and treatment using clinical reasoning skills and a range of therapeutic techniques To formulate a treatment plan using clinical reasoning To provide training for parents/informal and formal carers, education and social care staff To work effectively both independently with support of a senior clinician and as an effective team member . To ensure a high standard of clinical care by the use of evidence based practice and outcome measures, keeping up to date with clinical developments To support clinical education of Occupational Therapy students to ensure expected quality standards are met To provide support and supervision to support workers To maintain own CPD, participate in the Trust supervision and appraisal process and be responsible for maintaining own levels of competence . To be proactive in seeking support from senior colleagues and peers. To complete clinical records to Trust and HCPC standards To be personally accountable for maintaining skill, knowledge and competence in the use of SystmOne. BSc/Diploma in Occupational Therapy HCPC Registration

Training

Relevant paediatric training

Desirable

Practice Educator.

Knowledge

Knowledge of paediatric conditions underpinned by theory and postgraduate courses as appropriate. Knowledge of other professional roles

Desirable

Evidence based practice Understanding of national and local priorities

Experience

Varied post graduate experience. Working as a member of a team Experience of management and treatment of paediatric patients
