Job summary

As the Lead Specialist Clinical Pharmacist for AcuteMedicine, you will play a pivotal role in delivering, developing, and assessingthe clinical pharmacy services at Alexandra Hospital. You will be responsiblefor providing expert pharmaceutical care, optimizing patient outcomes throughevidence-based practice, and supporting the multidisciplinary medical team withspecialized knowledge in medicines management.

Your role will involve close collaboration with consultants,medical staff, and nursing teams to advise on all pharmaceutical aspects ofpatient care. You will participate actively in consultant-led ward rounds,providing clinical pharmacy support, and ensuring that prescribing practicesare safe, effective, and in line with national and local guidelines.

As an independent prescriber, you will have the opportunityto directly influence patient care, making critical decisions on the use ofmedicines in the Acute Medicine division. Your expertise will be instrumentalin managing complex medication regimens, therapeutic drug monitoring, andaddressing any medicine-related issues that arise during patient care.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Leadership: Lead and develop the clinical pharmacy services within the Acute Medicine division, ensuring the highest standards of patient care. Patient Care: Provide specialist pharmaceutical advice, create personalized care plans, and ensure safe and effective use of medicines. Education and Training: Deliver training and mentorship to junior pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Service Development: Collaborate with senior clinical staff to innovate and enhance the delivery of pharmacy services, contributing to the hospitals vision of providing outstanding healthcare. Research and Audit: Conduct and participate in clinical audits and research projects, ensuring that the pharmacy services meet regulatory standards and drive improvements in patient care.

About the Role

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

A masters degree in pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent. Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Significant experience in hospital pharmacy, with a focus on Acute Medicine or a similar clinical area. Accreditation as an Independent Prescriber (or willingness to obtain this qualification). Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
