Expression of Interest – Operation Olympos

Applications are invited from Detective Inspectors (or Police Staff Investigative Managers), Detective Sergeants, Detective Constables and Police Staff Investigators.

Operation Olympos  is the criminal investigation into offences of Perjury and Perverting the Course of Justice arising from the most widespread miscarriage of justice in British legal history, the Post Office Horizon scandal. This involved the wrongful prosecution of more than 700 sub postmasters (SPMs) between 2001-2017.

This is an SIO led investigation being conducted by the Metropolitan Police which will utilise a regional structure of teams lead by Detective Inspectors allocated specific strands of the investigation.

The investigation will be conducted on HOLMES. With each team required to undertake in depth research of the material formulating timelines to identify who knew what and when regarding the errors and defects on the Horizon system (known as BEDS). For executives it will also include looking at corporate knowledge and potential involvement.

In January 2024, the decision was taken to move Olympos from a solely Metropolitan Police Service investigation to a national policing response. This will be organised across 4 Regional Investigation Teams or Hubs covering all forces in England and Wales. For us, Southern Wales, South West England and South East England form one hub.

Each hub will comprise of;

1 x DI or Police Staff Investigative Manager– Investigative Lead for Hub – Point of Contact to SIO Olympos

1 x DS - Action Allocator- HOLMES / Supervision of investigators / Case File preparation

1 x DS – Disclosure SPOC / Relativity QA / Supervision of Investigators / Case File preparation

1 x DS – Deputy / Action Allocator / Disclosure / Relativity QA/ Case file preparation

18 x Investigators (to include nominated Disclosure Officer working to the Disclosure SPOC (Hub) and ultimately to the Disclosure Lead (MPS))
