Job summary

The Phlebotomist & Theatre Assistantwill see patients in clinic to perform blood tests and will assist Doctors intheir minor surgery clinics (vasectomies, carpal tunnel etc.) and contraceptiveclinics (coils). The role will alsoinclude other duties such as fridge temperature checks, room stocking andsample testing. The Phlebotomist &Theatre Assistant will work within their clinical boundaries to be able todemonstrate safe, competent clinical care, maintaining patient confidentialityat all times.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who istrained and competent to undertake phlebotomy and ideally has experience inassisting in theatres with minor ops and contraception clinics, however wewould train the right candidate in theatre assisting if it is required. The ideal candidate will have experienceworking as part of a team and also independently and will have the ability toliaise with staff at all levels. Applicantsmust have a friendly disposition, flexible approach and be adaptable tochange. We work in a fast-pacedenvironment, therefore the candidate must be a fast learner and confident andcompetent using IT softwares.

About us

This is a permanent position for parttime hours hours per week working on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday0800 to 1800.

Job responsibilities

ThePhlebotomist & Theatre Assistant will perform phlebotomy to obtain bloodsamples from patients and assist Doctors in their minor surgery andcontraceptive clinics following specific Practice guidelines and protocols.

ThePhlebotomist & Theatre Assistant will work within their clinical boundariesto be able to demonstrate safe, competent clinical care, maintaining patientconfidentiality at all times.

Therole will involve independent and autonomous working as well as workingcohesively as part of both the individual teams and the wider Practice team.

The Phlebotomist &Theatre Assistant will be supported by their fellow nursing team (Nurses, NurseAssociates, HCAs & Phlebotomists).

Tocollect the sample of blood from patients in accordance with training andprocedures. Toassist in minor surgery procedures including but not limited to vasectomies,carpal tunnel, dermatology procedures, coils etc. Tosterilise, clean and maintain surgical equipment following the PracticeInfection Control Policy. Toassist with urinalysis and sample checks. Toundertake administrative duties such as room stocking, fridge temperaturechecks and the removal of clinical waste. To ensure patientconfidentiality, respect, and dignity is adhered to at all times. Person Specification
