The Design Manager will work as part of a Team managing the Design Hub, responsible for delivering an Asset Management Programme to the carriageway and footway network, drainage systems, bridge structures and this includes the innovative Network Recovery Programme, to improve the condition of the Boroughs highways infrastructure. The team works closely with customers and stakeholders to ensure all involved parties' interests are met in line with Council policy.

About you

  • Demonstrable Engineering, Transportation, or equivalent experience at a Senior Engineering level
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant standards and contracts including DMRB, British Standards, Eurocodes, MCHW and NEC Contract
  • Ensuring designs are carried out in accordance with current design standards taking into account of CDM legislation, whole life costing, value and risk management
  • The ability to set and work to personal deadlines and targets to meet the requirements of programmes of work, to meet clients' needs and to respond to targets set by others.

About the role The Design Manager will work as part of a Team managing the Design Hub, responsible for delivering an Asset Management Programme to the carriageway and footway network, drainage systems, bridge structures and this includes the innovative Network Recovery Programme (NRP), with the aim of improving the condition of the Boroughs highways infrastructure. The team works closely with customers and stakeholders in order to ensure all involved parties' interests are met in line with Council policy. The post holder will be responsible for the effective design of a portfolio of projects within the Asset Management Programme, including the NRP.
