Job summary
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust (CWH) wishes to appoint two Consultant Physicians in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Medicine. The Trust is looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated physicians to join the team.
The Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes is one of the largest in the country, combining general and specialist diabetes and endocrinology, including nationally commissioned specialist endocrinology.
This post will include general diabetes and endocrinology clinics, youth endocrinology and diabetes transition, along with a rotational commitment to general medicine.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will:
Share a commitment to care of general medical in-patients under the endocrine team Participate in the acute medical on call rota for West Middlesex Hospital Provide general diabetes and endocrine clinics, as well as other clinics as determined by the job plan and requirements of the service Enhance the educational opportunities available to our trainees by any reorganisation and development of services that they initiate. Regular audits will be required and supervision for Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) undertaken by the trainees. Involvement in general management and committee work for the hospital will also be encouraged.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to maximise the clinical care and outcomes of patients, facilitating their safe discharge. Work in collaboration with community teams and other partners. The departments aim is to develop cross site working and partnerships in order to provide the best quality care to our patients. The post holder will be expected to actively participate in these developments with the post holder expected to work flexibly across either of our sites. Cover for Consultant colleagues within the Department to allow for annual and study leave. Make collaboration between hospital and community services as efficient as possible, supporting discharge from hospital where appropriate and ensuring appropriate follow up arrangements. Provide peer group support, supervision, further education and professional development essential to the welfare and effectiveness of trainees. Be educationally responsible for training and appraisal of junior staff Demonstrate a continuing commitment to medical audit and evaluation in the department Develop communication and other non-clinical aspects of new departmental initiatives. Actively participate in undergraduate teaching of clinical medical students attached to the department See referrals from other colleagues Actively participate in other specialist or new services or initiatives when required Be registered with the Royal College of Physicians for CPD and carry out the requirements of the College. The trust will fund the post holders CPD as agreed as part of his/her personal development plan. Participate in appraisal on an annual basis. Appraisals are part of a robust divisional annual system, which is led by the Divisional Medical Director.
